American Wigeon

I now know another word to rhyme with pigeon. With its light blue beak tipped in black and striking cream crown with green band over the eyes, the American wigeon (Anas americana) is easy to identify in a crowd of mallard ducks, American coots, and assorted seagulls.

So, next time you see a crowd of ducks, pause and look carefully for any that do not look like mallard ducks and you might find yourself an American wigeon.
